Amina Abdala and Télio Murrure write opinion article on advertising copyright

Amina Abdala, a senior associate from the Mozambique firm TTA, and Télio Murrure, an associate from the same firm, have written an opinion article for the sixth issue of the magazine Propriedades Intelectuais (Intellectual Property). The article is entitled "The protection of copyright in the Mozambican legal system in the context of advertising".

Against a background of debate about the creative economy and cultural industries in Mozambique, the two lawyers reflect on the protection of advertising copyright under Mozambican legislation. The basis of this protection is the Copyright and Connected Rights Law and the most recent Advertising Code. Amina Abdala and Télio Murrure point out that even though the law "does not mention advertising from a material point of view, there is no doubt that this area of activity is protected by copyright and connected rights". The lawyers say that "the new Advertising Code compliments the Copyright and Connected Rights Law Copyright at an opportune moment by establishing the need for Copyright and connected rights protection in the context of advertising".
