Investment Guide Mozambique

Mozambique is considered one of the economically better performing countries of Sub-Saharan Africa and is referred to as an example of a successful post-conflict transition.

Located on the southern and eastern coast of Africa, the country occupies an area of 799 380 km2. The North is bordered by Tanzania, the west by Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, and the south, South Africa and Swaziland. It has an estimated population of 23.5 million people who live predominantly in rural areas with only 23% of the population living in cities.

Independent from Portugal since 1975, Mozambique suffered through a 16-year civil war which ended in 1992. It has subsequently made significant progress towards economic and political stability. In the last ten years, the average annual economic growth has been 8%, mainly driven by investments in mineral resources, industry, services and with the strong support of donations from other countries.
