The law firm TTA Â? Sociedade de Advogados has achieved seven nominations for the African Legal Awards 2017

The shortlist for the African Legal Awards 2017 has just been revealed and the law firm Tomás Timbane - Sociedade de Advogados stands out among those being honoured, with seven nominations

The fifth edition of these International legal awards recognises Tomás Timbane - Sociedade de Advogados (TTA) in seven categories. These categories are: 'African Law Firm of the Year (Small Practice)', 'CSR, Diversity, Transformation and Economic Empowerment Award', 'Employment Law Team of the Year', 'Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team of the Year', 'M&A Team of the Year', 'Property and Construction of the Year' and 'Transportation and Infrastructure Team of the Year'.

The Mozambican law firm has managed to achieve a clean sweep in nominations, being shortlisted for the fifth consecutive year, in all five editions of these awards, which are seen as the Oscars of the legal profession in Africa. "TTA has been establishing itself as a brand that is recognised across borders", says Tomás Timbane, the partner who heads the only Mozambican law firm to have received an honourable mention in 2016, in the category 'Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team of the Year'.

"With recognition comes the responsibility to continue to fight for a strategic place among the [SG1] institutions and businesses of Mozambique", adds Tomás Timbane, the first Mozambican to be appointed to the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce in its almost 100 years of history.

The African Legal Awards are organised by Legal Week in association with the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa (CCASA). The winners of the awards, in more than 20 categories, will be announced on 8 September at a ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa.
